![]() ![]() “At our coaches meetings we discuss the award a lot and remind our coaches that all athletes and coaches contribute because every sport counts.” Stubblefield added that this award has set a standard and NAHS athletes and coaches will be doing their best to repeat in 2011-2012. “Several years ago, the coaching staff set this award as a goal for all of us to work toward and we have kept that goal in mind each year,” said Lecia Stubblefield, Director of Activities & Athletics for the district. ![]() Zach Hand and Wade Simmons were individual state winners in their respective weight classes in powerlifting. Zach Hand was an individual state winner in Track & Field-Shot Put. The NAHS girls’ basketball team was the 4A state champions. The following sports received points: baseball, girls and boys basketball, girls and boys golf, girls and boys powerlifiting girls and boys soccer boys track girls and boys cross country football, slow-pitch softball, and tennis. NAHS scored 305.5 points and received points in 15 of the 17 sports that the school offers. “We are excited for our student athletes, coaching staff, fans, and school district that we have received such an honor.” “This is the first year NAHS has received the award since its creation in the late 1980s,” said NAHS Athletic Director Shane Sanderson. The school’s athletic program experienced great success in most of its sports during the school year and wrapped up the year with the prestigious “Clarion Ledger Class 4A All-Sports Award”. ![]() The 2010-2011 school year has been referred to as “The Year of the Bulldog” for New Albany High School.
